Le scénariste Jonathan Hickman a dévoilé au site Ifanboy qu’il quitte les séries Fantastic Four et FF (Future Foundation qu’il lança avec le dessinateur Steve Epting suite à la mort apparente de Johny Storm) en octobre 2012, respectivement Fantastic Four #611 et FF #23, pour se consacrer à de plus vert paturages.
Sans compter la fin de la maxi-série S.H.I.E.L.D. et son départ précipité de la série Ultimate Comics : The Ultimates, son nouveau job chez Marvel doit le mettre sous pression. Un échange Jonathan Hickman/Brian Bendis sur les séries concernées serait-il à prévoir ?

Hickman’s tenure elevated the FF to a profile and popularity that got the notice of the industry and fandom to the point where two ongoing series starring the extended cast he established flourished. He re-energized elements of the mythos from Galactus to Atlantis to the Inhumans and more, as well as finding new roles for classic characters like Doctor Doom and the Celestials. All this and more will factor into his final stories as he brings his larger arc to a grand conclusion.
“Generally speaking, all the FF ‘world’ elements I’ve been playing with will get revisited [and reused],” he teases.
Well-known for his long-term planning, Hickman confirms that the conclusion of the current “Forever” story plays out the endgame he always had in mind for the FF, though circumstances along the way and still to come played into the length of his stay on the titles and its ultimate finale.
“I always had an end point in mind, but along the way I really fell in love with writing Marvel’s First Family and I also had all these dangling bits to clean up, so I agreed—[and] wanted—to stay on,” explains the writer. “Then all the gears started turning on all the [Avengers Vs. X-Men] stuff and what comes after and it just became obvious that October would be a good time to hop off.”
While fans and history will decide Hickman’s legacy within the Fantastic Four pantheon, the writer stands proud of his work and excited for the future:
“Personally, I just hope that I continue to evolve as a creator—that FF was better than the things I wrote before [it], and that what I write after FF will be the best thing I’ve done. We’ll see.”[/quote]

J’aime bien ce qu’il fait sans plus (pour moi, ça manque d’âme, les personnages sont des fonctions narratives, rien d’autre), mais je crains que la série n’écope d’un Bendis, effectivement. Là où elle mériterait un Slott, un Parker, un Van Lente ou un Kesel.
J’en attendais beaucoup au début, puis ça au fur et à mesure ça ne prenait pas, l’ennui a finit par pointer son museau, la faute à ds subplots trop long, et une intrigue générale qui va à 2 à l’heure .
Après, je ne trouve pas ça mauvais, mais, ça manque cruellement d’âme comme disait Jim, on ne s’attache pas aux persos, un comble pour cette série.
Graphiquement, je n’ai pas été emballé non plus par l’arrivée d’Epting (j’aurais préféré que Eagleshaw reste).
Attention, j’aime beaucoup Epting, mais je ne trouve pas qu’il soit le dessinateur qui convienne le plus au ton de cette série.
Donc Hickman s’en va, très bien. Après, si c’est que pour ce soit Bendis qui débarque bof ([size=85]mais à la limite je préfère qu’il soit cantonné là plutôt que sur les x-men où il mettrait en branle des cross over interminable et indigeste sur toutes les séries mutantes. Les mutants sont très bien ainsi sous le giron de Remender et Aaron[/size])…
Parker ? Hmm, j’aimerai bien le voir sur cette série aussi, j’apprécie énormément son run actuel sur les Thunderbolts.
Mais, là, j’aimerai un gros retour au classique avec des histoires brillantes, le retour de Walter Simonson au scénar ce serait le panard ! [size=85]Quoi ? on peut rêver, non ? ^^[/size]
Simonson revenant dans le giron de Bendis, déjà, c’est peut-être le signe qu’il pourrait l’accompagner quelque part.
Après, il pourrait faire comme Chaykin et récupérer des projets persos, aussi. Et en écrire pour d’autres.
Après, pour les FF, moi, ça fait des années pour que je milite pour un retour de Karl Kesel sur le titre. À chaque fois qu’il a livré un récit, j’ai adoré. Et c’est son rêve ultime, à lui aussi. Je suis sûr qu’il assurerait.
On a bien eu un an de Miller & Hitch, pour une histoire toute plate. Je prendrais bien un an de Kesel & Grummett, moi !

D’un côté je trouve ça étonnant personnellement, mais en même temps quand ils sont silencieux, cela donne un côté effrayant à la situation, on dirait qu’ils sont supérieurs aux autres personnages, en tout cas leur présence menaçante fonctionne toujours aussi bien, qu’ils parlent ou non!

Garney, c’est déjà un pas dans la bonne direction. Mais si Bendis arrive, je m’en vais. Je n’ai tenu sur la purge de Hickman parce que j’attendais avec une patience quasi angélique le terme de l’épreuve. Mais Bendis, non. Même si au fond ça ne changera pas grand-chose par rapport aux vaticinations mollasses de Hickman.
