Le scénariste Noah Hawley (Fargo ) développe actuellement pour la chaîne FX une série basée sur le personnage du mutant schizophrène David Haller, alias Legion , le fils du professeur Charles Xavier.
Il y a quelques semaines, on apprenait le casting de l’actrice Rachel Keller dans le premier rôle féminin (qui n’a toujours pas été dévoilé). Le président de la chaîne FX John Landgraf révélait également que la série sera déconnectée de la continuité des films X-Men .

C’est maintenant officiel : le rôle de David Haller a été confié au comédien britannique Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey , The Guest ).
La production du pilote débutera en mars.

Quelques additions au casting :
L’actrice Aubrey Plaza (excellente April Ludgate dans Parks & Recreations ) jouera Lenny, la meilleure amie de David Haller.
Lenny est décrite comme une droguée qui croit que sa vie peut changer d’un jour à l’autre, faisant d’elle une « optimiste impossible » avec des « penchants difficiles ».
La seconde est Jean Smart , une autre transfuge de la série Fargo qui incarnera Melanie , thérapeute exigeante, à l’esprit affutée et aux méthodes peu orthodoxes.
On suppose aussi que Rachel Keller ne sera autre que l’amoureuse potentielle de Légion en lisant le bref résumé publié par la Fox :

Il est pas un peu vieux pour incarner David Haller, Dan Stevens ? C’est censé être un post-ado.
A ce petit détail près, voilà un projet plutôt alléchant ma foi, à condition de rester assez près des intentions de l’excellent Si Spurrier dont j’ai vraiment aimé la prestation sur « X-Men Legacy feat. Legion ». Et si la craquante Aubrey Plaza est de la partie en plus…

Oui moi aussi j’ai beaucoup aimé la prestation de Si Spurrier sur le personnage, tu as lu le dernier recueil à propos ?
Sinon j’ai lu cet été un petit roman ou plutôt une novella intitulée fort justement Légion de Brandon Sanderson ;
« Mon nom est Légion, parce que nous sommes nombreux. » Ainsi parle le démon dans l’Évangile de Marc. Le héros de cette nouvelle, Stephen Leeds, surnommé Légion, est un être multiple : très intelligent, il peut apprendre n’importe quoi en très peu de temps, mais extériorise tous ses savoirs sous forme d’hallucinations, qui sont autant d’aspects de lui-même. Il vit reclus dans une grande maison, entouré de ces nombreuses entités hallucinatoires, toutes dotées de compétences hautement spécialisées. Il est riche, car il loue ses services à qui peut se les payer. Un jour, il est engagé pour enquêter sur la disparition d’un scientifique, inventeur d’un objet très particulier : un appareil photo capable de prendre des photos du passé… Ce court texte, l’un des préférés de son auteur, aborde des questions complexes et fascinantes, telles que la nature du temps, les mystères de l’esprit humain, le potentiel de la technologie…

Qui m’a pas mal fait penser au Légion de **Marvel ** en tant qu’inspiration, mais aussi en possible évolution du personnage.Jamie Madrox chez Peter David .

Le producteur Bryan Singer (X-Men : Apocalypse ) s’exprime sur Legion :
« The idea is to do something very new and very different with Legion. Since it’s television, you can’t do the same level of visual effects [as a big movie], so you have to find other dramatic ways of telling the story. What’s great about these universes and particularly the X-Men universe is it’s very grounded in its characters and its themes, so even if the tone is different or the show is smaller than a movie, it can still have very strong characters and bring in a supernatural element in a very tasteful and fun way, » he says. And when the time is right you can cross over and remind people that they’re part of a bigger universe."

Yeah, I mean, it was such a bad idea to do Fargo as a show that it was sort of liberating! I look at the challenge with Legion as the same challenge, which was here’s this iconic world - the Marvel world, the comics, and the X-Men world. And as with Fargo, my job was not to remake the movie, to sort of retell a story that had already been told, but to try to tell a different story with the same effect, the same impact. So, you know what was important to me was to treat the material with the utmost respect, and yet at a certain point as a writer, you have to tell your own story. So my approach to the Legion material is similar, which is it’s about a respect for the world, but it’s not about telling stories in that world that the reader is familiar with. It’s about taking that character and really exploring, almost on an existential level, what it’s like… What a television show can do that a movie can’t do is it’s not just a plot delivery device. It’s not about action, it’s about character and theme and as we see in Fargo, you can really play with structure and you can deconstruct the story in a big way. Whereas in a two-hour movie, it’s ‘What’s the problem? Where’s the bad guy? Let’s go get him!’
